About Foster Athens
Foster Athens is a non-profit animal rescue that fosters and re-homes cats and kittens for families in Athens, Ga and surrounding areas; Foster Athens is not an animal shelter - I’m a student at Athens Tech studying to become a Veterinary Technician who is interested in helping pets and pet owners by re-homing their animals. I mostly work with urgent cases; owners who would otherwise be forced to surrender their animals to a shelter. When you give your cat to me I will immediately begin searching for a suitable home and will foster them until then; your cat is never at risk to be euthanized or taken to a shelter. Meanwhile they will be introduced to hard food (if necessary), litter box trained, socialized with cats as well as dogs, and occasionally taken outside via harness if they are comfortable going outside. Currently, I only have enough room and supplies to foster 1 or 2 cats at a time, depending on their age and specific needs. Your cats will be staying with my two permanent adult cats or given their own room, depending on their personality and temperament. You can see pictures of them below!
There is no adoption fee for a cat unless I have personally taken them to the vet and payed for vaccinations or spay/neuters. If a cat is given to me and needs to be taken to the vet (the cat is sick, has worms, etc.) the adoption fee for that cat will equal the vet bill. I can also work out an arrangement to change the name of the cat's vet account to your name, which would save you a $30 new customer fee that most vets require. Donations of cat food, cat litter, cat toys, or any kind of medicine (ear mites, flea/tick, worm) would be greatly appreciated and aid in the care of your cat and future cats to come into my care!
